Graduate Production Twin Engineer
Digital Manufacturing Ireland (DMI):
Digital Manufacturing Ireland (DMI): A Strategic Government Initiative, led by the IDA, the DMI is a newly established institute which is intended to help Irish based manufacturers (MNC’s and SME’s) to access and accelerate their adoption of digital technologies. Offering a world class physical and digital factory, a vendor showcase, an industry collaboration space, and training facilities the institute will bring together technology, expertise, training, and business supports to help manufacturing companies to enhance, transform and position their operations for the future. Location: DMI is located in the National Technology Park, Limerick, Ireland. This role is a flexible working model. Employees can work fully at the DMI HQ or in a hybrid approach of partly remote and partly at the DMI HQ.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Role overview:
With this role you will work as part of the Data and Digital Technology team to support DMI and its clients. Together with the Technology Operations and Manufacturing Operations teams, the successful candidate will optimise and simulate the digital twin of production lines, both on new and legacy processes. You will have knowledge of Digital Twin solutions and can work with technology, project management, and business teams. An important aspect of this position is the understanding of end-to-end digital twin of product and process from an automation design perspective.
Main responsibilities:
- Convey technical concepts clearly to a variety of audiences using the appropriate level of detail for the target audience.
- Keep ahead of current trends related to production design and the underlying technologies.

Key Skills and Competencies:
Experience Required:
- Experience of Production Simulation and CAD tools such as Siemens Plant Simulation and Solidworks.
- Design analysis and optimization.
- Familiarity with PLM, Systems Engineering (MBSE), Modularization, Digital Manufacturing or Supply Chain implementation programs is highly desirable.
- Production of technical documentation including reports, specifications and BOMs.
- Understanding of automation speeds, parameters, and changeovers through virtual systems.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners in a global setup.
- Understanding of Industry 4.0 and Digital Manufacturing in general.
- Holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics/Process Engineering or equivalent qualification.
The following experience would be an advantage:
- Automation Machine Design is a distinct advantage.
- Familiarity with regulated manufacturing production environments is also an advantage.
